Making an Effort to Slow Down

I can’t believe it’s already the middle of July; it seems like just weeks ago we were counting down to the new year. The older I get, the more I realize how quickly time flies! It’s funny because sometimes the days can feel like they drag on forever, but the weeks seem to go by so quickly. Kind of a paradox of sorts. In this day in age, things have been moving at lightning speed and so efficiently that it can be easy to forget to take a step back. Our mental health could really benefit from making time…

A Quarter Life Crisis

Floral wrap dress from ASOS As my 25th birthday swiftly approaches, my concern for the future has irrationally grown. It’s funny to think that when you were 16, 25 seemed so mature – you thought by this time you would be established and have a clear direction in life. In reality, I’ve never felt more confused! Here’s the thing: school was simple. You (hopefully) knew the outcome and there was an end goal. Once you got past picking a major, your mission was to graduate and land a job. After that happened for me just as planned, a monster-sized question…

Finding a Fitness Routine

Physical exercise and I haven’t always had the most stable relationship. Of course I have always been the disloyal one; I would go through phases where I exercised consistently, but I also went through phases where I didn’t exercise at all. Doing something is better than doing nothing. While you will see the best results by being consistent and pushing yourself, it’s better to make small conscious efforts…

Being Grateful While Wanting More

We are all familiar with the saying “The grass is always greener on the other side.”  Of course in plain terms it means you want what you don’t have. As humans, we are always wondering “What if?“ and placing ourselves in imaginary scenarios that we hope one day will come true. Through our childhoods and even through adolescence, I think a majority of us go through a phase where we’re a little selfish and ungrateful. As we get older, we become more appreciative of the opportunities we receive and the things we have. Yet life is in a constant state of evolution; with…

June 2017 Goals

Summer is rapidly approaching (though with this hot weather it feels like it has already arrived), and that means a new list featuring some summery goals. As always, I continue to work on goals from previous months, but I also like to add new things to work on as I think of them. For the month of June, I want to: Learn how to crochet. My mom used to teach me how to crochet when I was younger to give me something to do over the summer besides watch TV and play video games. I was never really good at it, but I…
