While I love experimenting with full-glam makeup, some of my most favorite looks are actually very minimal. The best thing about these fresh and light makeup looks is that they’re very quick because they’re so simple! My day-to-day makeup routine is usually pretty low-maintenance, especially in the summer. Something about the extreme heat and intense humidity keeps me from wanting to apply too much on my face. Luckily, there are ways to create beautiful makeup looks using just a few holy grail products from your stash.
Here are my five favorite products to use in my quick, effortless makeup routine:
- Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer ($9)
This is hands down my favorite concealer that I’ve ever used. It is an absolute dream to work with as the product moves around easily before it dries. I love the formula because it doesn’t look cakey; the finish is very natural-looking. The color matches perfectly with my skin tone, and I don’t notice it changing throughout the day as it is exposed to different elements. I apply this under my eyes and on any problem areas I have, and it makes my skin look great!
- Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush in “Pearlescent Pink” ($3)
I love this blush because it adds a glowy hint of color to your face. It’s a simple step that adds life to your skin, and I make sure to never skip it.
- NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade ($7)
If your face is a piece of art, think of your brows as the frame. I went so many years without filling in my brows and it was such a mistake! Pictures taken at a distance make it look like I had none. Thankfully, I’ve learned my lesson and I no longer miss this step in my routine. The NYX brow pomade is a great product because it fills in your brows while simultaneously locking them in place. It’s also very affordable, which is a major plus.
- Maybelline Falsies Mascara ($7)
While I haven’t come across a mascara that I’ve been absolutely floored by yet (any suggestions??), the Maybelline Falsies mascara has been my go-to for several years. The only major con for me with this mascara is that it tends to be a bit flaky when it dries. It does make my lashes look very thick and full, however, so I push the negative aside for the major positive. The level of lift it gives makes my eyes look open and awake, which is much needed in a minimal makeup look.
- Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in “Alchemy” ($5)
Unfortunately, there’s not a link for this one because this shadow was limited edition, but it’s a shimmery champagne shade that I absolutely love. They have tons of options on the ColourPop site when it comes to their Super Shock Shadows, so you’re sure to find a color you love. This product works best when you apply it with your finger, so it’s very fast and easy to use. I like a simple, neutral, shimmery shadow just to brighten up the eye areas and add a little pizazz.
And that’s my five product face! It’s super quick and easy to do, plus all the products are affordable (can’t go wrong there!). What are products you like to use in your quick makeup routine? Let me know in the comments!
