My Favorite Conditioner for Fine, Tangle-Prone Hair

The Best Conditioner for Fine Hair

If you have fine hair, then you know all too well about the struggles of knots and tangles. If you top that off with being tender-headed, then you have a recipe for disaster when it comes to getting your hair styled. My eyes have watered many a time at the hands of my hair stylists, and I’ve even been the source of my own affliction when trying to brush out those awful knots. Brushing my hair helps temporarily, but 10 minutes later the pesky strands find their way back to each other.

Fine hair is prone to tangles, and luckily there are products that exist to help out. I first came across the Paul Mitchell ‘Original The Detangler’ conditioner at a hotel room we were staying at several months ago. It was one of those travel size samples that the hotels leave in your bathroom in case you forget to bring yours from home. Normally I’m let down by a lot of the new hair products I try, but trying this conditioner was such a pleasant surprise!

I’ve tried this conditioner with both long hair and short hair, and it works like magic on both. Usually I would have to fight my way through wet hair, but the brush glided down like butter after using it. I didn’t have to spend 10 minutes trying to untangle one knot! The formula has the same effect once the hair is dry, too, but I definitely notice it works best the day it was washed.

The scent isn’t anything groundbreaking; it smells like a typical conditioner. I don’t really mind because how a conditioner performs its job is much more important to me. The formula is also a little different than what I’m used to. Once you apply it kind of “sticks” to your hair and doesn’t form much of a lather, but I let it sit for a few minutes and am just amazed how soft my hair feels once it rinses out!

Overall I think this conditioner is a great purchase. The retail price is $16.50 for a 16.9 fl oz bottle, which I think is fair considering it will last for many, many months. It’s worth it to me if it means I can spend less time fighting with my hair!
