Eyezen Glasses Review

If you work an office job, chances are you’re probably spending a majority of your eight-hour workday in front of computer. Even on your lunch break I’ll bet you take at least a glance at your phone. Point is, we spend a lot of time staring at blue screens whether large or small. I’m completely guilty of it.

Even though I’ve only been working a full-time office job for a little less than two years, I can already feel the negative impact it has been having on my health. I’m a graphic designer for a marketing agency, and that means my eyes are glued to the screen (and my butt glued to the computer chair) for 8+ hours a day. Luckily, doing a little bit of yoga every morning and walking my dog helps the body aches, but it wasn’t helping the massive headaches and eye fatigue I was feeling at the end of each and every day.

I was scrolling through Pinterest one night and saw an ad for digital screen protection glasses. Normally I have a strong distrust of advertising, but I was feeling desperate. Maybe I could finally put an end to those after-work headaches. I decided to click on it and it took me to a site called EyeBuyDirect.

I was a little overwhelmed because they had so many different styles, many of which were surprisingly affordable. I picked up this non-prescription pair in size XS for about $38. (I think they were having a sale. Plus I used a coupon. Always ALWAYS check for coupons!)

The shipping process was a little slow, but they mentioned it could take up to 14 days to ship. It took almost two and a half weeks from the date I ordered to the day they arrived. This was a bummer, but mostly because I couldn’t wait to try them out!

They came beautifully packaged in a brown box and inside a light blue cloth bag. The bag is perfect for storing them on your desk when you’re not using them. At first glance I thought they looked a bit small, almost like kids’ glasses, but they actually fit perfectly! They are a great size for my small and narrow face.

Aside from them looking great, I’m sure you’re wondering if they actually work. The short answer is yes.

If you don’t normally wear glasses (like me), it will be a bit of an adjustment to wear them. The lenses do have a slight magnification to make text easier to read, so I don’t recommend wearing them for any reason other than to look at your screen. It might be slight, but you’ll definitely the notice magnification once you start walking around.

When looking through the lenses, I noticed that everything seemed to have a yellow-ish tint. The yellow helps counter the blue light, but it will make colors look a bit off. Since I’m a designer and color is a very important part of my job, I just take them off whenever I need to fix anything color-related. You will also notice that when light hits the lenses, it gives a purple reflection. Pretty cool!

I’ve been wearing these every day since I got them (10 full days to be exact!), and I’ve really noticed a difference! My eyes don’t feel as tired at the end of my workday, and I haven’t gotten a single headache! I am over the moon about these glasses and what they have done for me. I guess I’ve also discovered that Pinterest advertising works!

I should note that even though I got non-prescription glasses, they do make prescription Eyezen lenses. Regardless of what you’re in the market for, I hope you found this review helpful!

Have you tried Eyezen lenses? What do you think of them? Have they helped you at all? Let me know in the comments!

February 2017 Boxycharm Unboxing

The day I receive my Boxycharm is my favorite day of the month! I love getting surprised with new beauty goodies, and the Boxycharm team really knocked it out of the park with this month’s box. S0 without further ado, let’s get into what I got!

  1. Royal & Langnickel Omnia Eye Kit ($29.98) – This beautiful gold and rose gold brush set makes a great addition to my brush collection. The gold is an eyeshadow brush and the rose gold is a smudge brush. The bristles on both are very soft and apply product well. They seem to be great quality!
  2. Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in “Cinderella” and “Concrete Jungle” ($6 each) – It may seem crazy, but I’ve never tried a Makeup Geek eyeshadow before! I was glad Boxycharm included two for me to try. They threw in a pink and a gray, and both of them are very pretty. The gray is unique and probably my favorite of the two, but they work well together!
  3. Small Z Palette ($14) – Evidently there has been some drama swirling around the Z Palette company. Before all that happened, though, they collaborated with Boxycharm to create a Z Palette that looks similar to the box you receive in the mail. Scandal aside, the palette is very cute, and it was meant to house the Makeup Geek shadows we received.
  4. RealHer Moisturizing Lipstick in “Boss” ($18) – The packaging on this lipstick is so chic. Though it is a simple black and white rectangular casing, it is very striking. The color of this lipstick is a beautiful deep maroon, and it feels great on the lips. It’s halfway between a matte and a gloss, so it has a little shine (which I personally like!) The formula is not drying at all, but I can’t speak to the staying power because I haven’t worn it out for extended periods of time yet.
  5. Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion ($79) – This was probably the most anticipated item we received in the box this month. Dr. Brandt is a pretty well-known skincare line (and an expensive one at that!), so the fact that each Boxycharmer subscriber got this is pretty cool. I’ve tried it twice since I got it, and I will be doing a full review on it in the near future!

The total value of this month’s box is $152.98. Can we talk about how CRAZY that value is?! I pay $21 a month for the box, and the value always exceeds the amount I pay. February Boxycharm nailed it, and I’m looking forward to the March box!

You can never go wrong with a good, long-lasting nail polish. The only negative thing about them is that they are so hard to come by! My friend gifted me this OPI “I Believe in Manicures” gel polish and she raved about how long it lasted, so naturally I couldn’t wait to try it.

As I write this on a gloomy Wednesday afternoon, I am currently wearing this nail polish. In fact, I’ve been wearing it since Sunday and there is no chipping in sight! It even lasted through a scrubbing battle between me and a stack of dishes. Ok…it was more like a mountain of dishes, but let’s not get into that.

I am no expert at applying nail polish; sometimes it looks as if a second grader has done my nails! Frankly, I’ve just recently gotten into nail polish and am trying to hone my skills, but I find these gel formulas a bit more difficult to work with than other formulas. The one thing I’ve learned about gel polishes is the less coats you can get away with, the better off you’ll be. I am definitely going to keep practicing, though, because I hate when my nails chip after only a day!

This color is absolutely stunning. It is part of their “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” collection and it directly resembles the Tiffany blue. It has a glossy finish, but it looks good with a polish mattifier, too.

Overall I’m really happy with this nail polish and can see myself picking up a few more colors in the future!
